Horizon North County began at the Del Mar Hilton in 1993 with a weekly attendance of 75 people. The church has since moved to its current campus in Rancho Santa Fe and ministers to over 3000 people weekly through weekly services, youth programs, Bible Studies, and family ministries.

Horizon Christian Fellowship North County is an outgrowth of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and Pastor Chuck Smith. Mike MacIntosh, an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa was called by the Lord and sent by Pastor Chuck to begin a Bible study in San Diego in 1974. Pastor Mike’s Bible study eventually led to the creation of Calvary Chapel San Diego which came to be known as Horizon Christian Fellowship.

In 1993 Pastor Mike sensed the Lord leading him to multiply the ministry by adding several additional satellite campuses around San Diego County. Thus, Horizon North County was formed and Pastor Mike asked one of his assistant pastors, Bob Botsford, to pastor the newly planted church.

Pastor Bob Botsford served in the ministry of Horizon Christian Fellowship for seven years before pastoring the North County church. In addition to his ministry at Horizon North County, Pastor Bob currently serves on the Board of Directors for Youth Development International, the Advisory Board for the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and is the featured speaker on “Press On,” a radio broadcast of the Calvary Satellite Network heard on over 350 stations throughout North America. Pastor Bob has earned three master’s degrees (MA, MBA and MDiv) and his doctorate (DMin). He and his wife Bonnie live in San Diego county with their three children—Mitchell, Annie and Matthew.
