“Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there.” Isaiah 48:16
Do we believe, truly believe that God exists – do we take Him at His word? Or do we live only for ourselves. We might say, “Well, I don’t know. I kind of take Him at His word, but I kind of don’t.” It is rather like being pregnant – you either are or you aren’t. And the universe doesn’t keep silent about the existence of God, it is constantly giving Him praise; so we can choose to join in or go our own way.
Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…” All creation points us to a God who is saying, “I am here. I love you. I choose you.” And we’re living in a world that says, “Funny thing You should choose me because I choose me too.” When we hear “…the LORD your God loves you.” (Deuteronomy 23:5), we say, “I love me too.” That’s the mistake that has been made throughout the centuries – we have fallen in love with the wrong thing.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” We need to be still, to look up, to look around, to look within and we will know that He is God.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4
Prayer-
Dear Lord,
My problem is that I don’t make the effort to be still. In my busyness I can loose sight of all the evidence of Your existence. I choose to join all creation in praising You because You are there.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
