Summoned to Appear – 2
Published on August 20, 2012 — Leave a Comment

“And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” – Isaiah 35:10

How do you feel about the word “summoned.” I think, for most of us, it has negative connotations. Like, you can’t ever be summoned to something good.

God will one day summon all peoples to Himself, and for those who have believed in Him, this summoning is a summoning to rewards. Huge rewards, in fact. So let’s look at those huge rewards together.

H—What does the H stand for? Well, H has to stand for Heaven, which is the reward of all rewards. When you believe in Jesus, you get to go to Heaven, the place where there’s no mourning, weeping, sadness, pain, or death. And it sure beats the alternative, right? It’s just like the choice that Joshua set before Israel—life or death, blessings or curses—and choose life today that you and your descendents may live.

U—This stands for unlimited access to the presence of God. You can go see Him whenever you want and you won’t even have to make an appointment. Your faith will become sight and forever you will be in the presence of the Lord. What an awesome reward!

G—This is the reward of a glorified body, a body that instead of experiencing strokes, heart disease, and brain issues will then walk through walls and will never grow old. My glorified body will have hair; it’s going to be wonderful. Just think to yourself, “Maui,” and you’re there. You can think, “Paris for dessert after church,” and there we go.

E—Stands for an incredible everlasting joy. No more sadness, no more sorrow, but instead a joy unspeakable overflowing from you forevermore. Now, with all the depression and anxiety around us these days, this kind of joy is a truly amazing thought!

Listen, God is going to summon you one day; it might be today. If you believe in Jesus, these are the huge rewards that await you. If you don’t believe in Jesus, you’ll get the opposite—huge wrath. But today is a day of mercy! Turn to Jesus today, give Him your life, and thank Him for offering you His eternal rewards.

Prayer—
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for making the way for me to have these huge rewards forevermore! I turn to You today with my whole heart and ask You to give my life on earth purpose and fulfillment.
Amen
